Information about Gardermoen Soaring Club
Gardermoen Soaring Club was organised as part of Gardermoen Flying Club and operated from Ringbanen, a Second World War airstrip situated close to the present Oslo Airport Gardermoen.
In 1989 the glider group moved to the Norwegian national gliding center at Starmoen close to the town of Elverum, also known as the Ole Reistad Senter.
In 1990 Gardermoen Soaring Club was formed as a independent club.
Starmoen is one and a half hours drive from Akershus/Oslo, where many of our members live. We start our season at Easter and fly until the end of October. Basic instruction is available every weekend dependent on the weather. Air tows are available at Starmoen on a daily basis all summer. There are rooms and cabins for rent at the airfield.
The members are made up of a diverse group of all ages and backgrounds, some just wanting to enjoy a pleasant flight, others are devoted competition pilots.
